Well, we have finally made it to December. I tell Bill each month how the time is just flying by, and it really has this time. We made it through this year's record breaking hurricane season and what a season it was. Even thought the season has officially ended, we still have a storm out there. It was a season that had the most named storms of 26, most hurricanes of 13, most Cat 5 at 3, and we had four major U. S. strikes. Quite the season. As you know the experts now say that next years season could prove to be the same. We sure hope not. As you know Christmas is coming real fast and again this year as we have in the past, Weatherfun Headquarters will have Santa here at Headquarters, Christmas Eve. If you would like to have your little one receive a special call from Santa on Christmas Eve, please be sure to get back to me by private e-mail. Let me know the child's name, age, and some important information about he or she, give us a phone number where the child can be reached and we will do the rest. We also have a lot of interest going on next year's 5th Weatherfun Family Reunion. Well, after the first of the year, I would like to get the plans going on next year's reunion. Steve was the first one to get the reunion started some five year's ago, so Steve maybe you can kick it off after the New Year, and we can make our plans. Hopefully we can have some new members join us for a weekend of great weather, weather talk, activities, good food and above all good friendship. I would like to close with some special words for this season to all of you. Christmas is a time to remember the special people in our lives. The thoughtful people who brighten our days all year through. The fun-loving people with who we share laughter, good times, and fond memories. The wonderful people who have touched our lives as few can. You are all truly special people and though it's not often that these feelings are put into words, the Christmas season, just seems like a good time to let you know how very much you all mean to us. Have a Wonderful Christmas from all of us here at Weatherfun Headquarters. Susan, Jerry, Kevin, Keith, Pa, Tracey, Joe, Kendra, Shana and oh yes, Sophia. November's Weather 4th-5th: Heavy rain in the Northwest with snow in the Cascades. 6th: A tornado ripped across southwestern Indiana and northern Kentucky early in the morning, killing at least 22 people, wrecking homes and knocking out power to thousands. 12th: 3 tornadoes in Iowa cause major damage and at least one death. 13th: TD #27 forms in the eastern Caribbean, but then dissipates 2 days later. 14th: Some parts of Colorado hit with up to 20" of snow and winds gusting to near 70 mph. 15th: A powerful Cold Front that ran from the Great Lakes to the Gulf coast produced severe weather with almost 40 tornadoes. Most of the damage was in southern Illinois, Indiana, western Kentucky and Tennessee. At least 2 deaths were related to the weather. While in Minnesota, at least four people were killed in crashes on roads after driving conditions began to deteriorate as the first major winter storm of the season moved across the state. 16th-17th: Shortly before 5 AM, Buffalo was 69 degrees, tying a 1955 record. By 8 PM, it was down to 32 degrees and it was snowing which went into the next day. The eastern and southern suburbs were hit with 6-13" of snow. This is the latest that the area has gone before hitting the freezing mark in the 63 years that it's been keeping records. 18th: Pushed by fierce Santa Ana winds in southern California a wildfire burned nearly 1,500 acres. The remnants of TD #27 become Tropical Storm Gamma in the western Caribbean, but dissipated 2 days later. 22nd: Tropical Storm Delta forms well out in the Atlantic. 25th: Lake Effect Snow in New York drops up to 24" of snow in some areas. 27th: A storm rolled out of the Rockies bringing blizzard conditions from eastern Colorado to western Kansas up to North Dakota with some areas getting over 2 feet of snow with winds gusting to 60 mph. While in Arkansas several tornadoes touched down. Grass fires driven by the storm system's wind blackened thousands of acres in parts of six Texas counties and in Oklahoma. The days bad weather claimed 3 lives. 28th: Blizzard conditions in Minnesota, South Dakota, Nebraska and Kansas caused 3 more deaths with snow up to 20 inches and winds gusting to 70 mph. Tropical Storm Epsilon forms in the mid-Atlantic, making it a record 26th named storm of the season.
