| Greetings fellow Weatherfun members and welcome to your August Newsletter. Remember folks, that this is your newsletter and if you have any ideas or articles that you would like to see included in the newsletter, please feel free to send the information to Bill or me. Well, as I type this we are in the grips of a very intense heat wave here in the Rhode Island area. I am in my 4th day of 90 plus degree temps. Tomorrow could bring us 100+ degrees temperatures and the possibility of breaking a record. This is a very severe heat wave and could be life threatening in some areas. Well, the big thing is that the 2006 Weatherfun Family Reunion is now history. As usual folks, it was a great reunion. All those who attended had a great time, and look forward to next year's reunion. I would like to thank Lynn and Bill for all of the work that they did to make this reunion a great event. Work began just after last year's reunion, and it shows what great planning that they did to make this the greatest reunion yet. I would like to also thank Tony and Shirley for the great cookout that they put on for members in their back yard on the Thursday night of the reunion. The food was great but above all the friendship was also great. It even snowed on our way back to the motel. I will be sending out a post shortly on the events that we had at the reunion, that will also include some great pictures. Plans are already being made for next year's reunion, and they include a Whale Watching cruise and the possibility of a dinner train ride. So, why not mark your calendar now for next year's great event, and like the man says on TV, come on down. Also at this writing we have TS Chris, and the possibility of one more tropical system forming down south. This is the month where we could start to see a lot more activity in the tropics, and everyone should be prepared for the possibility of a visit from one of these storms. As the officials have been stating lately, the east Coast could very well be a target for one or more of these tropical systems. Everyone not only on the east coast but anywhere where these monsters could be headed should take precautions now, and be prepared for the possibility of a TS or hurricane in your area. As Max Mayfield told me when I had my one on one conversation with him a few years ago: he stated that another strike in our life time in southern New England, will happen, and we should be planning for it now. These are serious storms folks and we should be making plans now to protect the lives of our families, ourselves and our property. I know we all like to track these storms, but please take them very seriously. Enjoy your summer folks, take it easy stay out of the heat and see you next month. Jerry Laroche
